    Speech recognition

I am writing this with Windows Vista-s built in speech recognition software.
It’s pretty cool although it often guess stuff wrong.

Of course, it took me like twenty times longer to write this post than it would if I had used a keyboard.
But I must say it’s fun to open programs with your voice.

    Windows Vista

    Windows Vista

    I am an ufficial upgrader.

I have installed Windows Vista Ultimate on both my desktop machine and my Macbook Pro.

On the Mac, there were some issues with drivers, which I could quickly overcome thanks to this page.

I must say it’s a nice, smooth OS. There is a lot of eyecandy and you won’t be disappointed by the features either.

The only thing I can complain about is it being a bit too caothic, even for long-time Windows users such as myself. Links to various features (control panel, device manager, etc.) move basing on what you have used recently, and you really can get anywhere from anywhere, although, eventually, you have no clear idea of where everything, in fact, is.

But then again, you can always turn off pretty much anything new and use the old visualizations. Which I am not going to do. Because that’s the best thing about having a new OS on your hands: exploring.

On a side note, PlentyOfVids.com is still going strong, with 2000 unique users and around 7500 pageviews per day and 250 registered users (and counting).

Leave me a comment with your thoughts on Vista, you splendid thing.

    Note to Self

Slow e-mails from password retrieval services suck big time.

I’m a mice freak (and yes, I am talking about computers)

    Logitech G7

Discard all the doubts you are having on wether it is correct to still use the plural “mice” when referring to more than one computer mouse and read on.

Every 4-5 months, I feel the irresistible urge to buy a new mouse.

I’ve got more mice than I’ll ever need. Hell, I have more mice than computers (and I have A LOT of computers).

I don’t know what drives me so crazy about them. I guess it’s the eternal struggle for the perfect performance and comfort.
And it seemed like I had found the holy grail when I got my Logitech G7 mouse. Brilliant mouse, let me tell you.
If only it wasn’t for the fact that a few months later I also purchased the Z-5450 Wireless speaker 5.1 system, which works at the same frequency as the G7 and completely killed its usability: with the speakers turned on it jumps and stutters like if Mohammed Ali were using it.

    I’m back to the MX1000.

So now, moral of the story, it’s that time of the year again. I am looking to buy a mouse. There is no way I could ever justify such a purchase, but I want one.

Maybe the G5 (pretty much the corded version of the G7) may be my next victim..
